The holidays are upon us

The mainstream American ones anyway.

Though I do not much celebrate this time of year, it does lend itself to feelings of nostalgia and melancholy. The holiday season has a magic about it that fades as we age. Once we're adults, we see the price tags and social requirements. All the sparkle requires work, which is not something I desire more of.

So, I find myself rather mopey this time of year, as I do every year. The food helps, though it comes with memories and dishes. The music makes it worse, mostly because it invades every public space and can't be escaped. The lights are nice, and as we live in Arizona, so is the weather. I don't miss snow. Not even a little bit.

The crossroads I mentioned back in September still weighs heavily on my mind, but I think I'm starting to come to decisions about how to move forward. I'll know more after the first of the year, as is the way.

As is also the way, I intend to try to get my shit together after the first of the year. I'll plan better this year and try to enact said plans with my limited energy and resources. I'm learning to be gentle with myself, so it will be slow, but it will be progress. I intend to bring you all along for the ride this next year, so hopefully there will be more frequent updates, more photos, more work, and generally just more to share.

I probably won't update again until after the new year since I'm finishing up my last two classes and battling seasonal depression, but I haven't forgotten about this blog or this website or the general desire that drives me to maintain them.

Until next time.
